240309(Sat) Relisten to the sermon(Jn 9:1~12)
"Jesus, Who healed the blind man" - 240303(English Worship, Lord's Day), Preacher: Rev. David Lee
I. We face our real faith when we encounter big problems in our lives
For example, in Exodus in Old testament, when Moses and Israelites reached in front of Red sea during escaping out from Egypt, all of them kept complaining about how God will save them. We cannot say that they had mere faith and we can also understand that they are weak as like us.
1. The man, who was blind since his born
(1) Since he was born, he couldn't see anything and the only thing he could see was darkness because he was blind during his whole life.
(2) Include the non-Christians, all of us have fundamental problems;Separation from God, becoming sinner and children of Satan.
We, all of Christians, also always try to do best what we deadly long for such as financial freedom, good relationship or family with happiness. Already, we do know that they can't last forever, but we still long for them more than seeking the holy face of God. What is the difference between non-believers and us? We are still blind.
(3) The blind 'was changed' after he experienced the Gospel, by the Grace of God. He couldn't change himself, but ONLY Jesus Christ could cure him.
2. Disciples - Perspective of the law and legalism
(1) Was the blind sinner? So he had become blind? Never! Even though he kept all kinds of laws, there still are many kinds of mysteries which cannot be explained. The more important thing is that we must accept what we cannot accept. The more important thing is that we must understand what we cannot understand. Only God leads and judges everything. Most of all, the salvation comes from believeing in Jesus Christ, not from our good behaviours.
(2) Although the purposes or intentions looked good, how can we sure that it was good in God's perspective? I need to remind myself, Proverb 16:2. The thing which I must ask myself is that if I obey his word with pure and perfect heart. Of course I cant keep his word with that, but most of all, the salvation comes from believeing in Jesus Christ, not from our kindness.
Being a mankind with holiness, good behaviours and kindness cannot be the first priority. His unlimited grace and the faith by the grace changes the Christians who do good behaviours and have kindness by following the Christ Jesus who taught us. The blind was used for a way to evangelise many people by God, surprisingly include himself.
3. Jesus Christ, who perfectly healed blind man
(1) Jesus Christ came to this world to solve all the problems which we have fundamentally. He descended from heaven himself. For our evangelism and salvation, he came to us and to the blind.
(2) How could he be healed? Knowing him who he is and what he did are much the most important because he sometimes works in his way by the methods we didn't know or expect. The way what Jesus Christ did for was that he was crucified for 'THE BLINDS' like us, Christians, who cannot see the glory of God. No one could imagine or expect that he would work in that way, but the diciples and followers dared him as a Messiah in politic, military or financial ways. After the effect of healing the man, they become the witnesses of the works by Jesus Christ.
The journey of Covenant which is only one way from God to us is not easy but not hard also, paradoxically. Remember that he is always with us and protects us from the things which can make us to be collapsed. Preach Christ myself everyday!
Blind.
